Sales and Applications Specialist – Life Sciences

Home location: Germany (remote/home office)

Territory: EU (~50% travel)

Salary: 45-55K plus uncapped commission

THE COMPANY

A global leader Life Sciences instrumentation with a portfolio of precision scientific instruments for life science and biomedical research. They design and manufacture advanced measurement and control systems used by researchers worldwide. This is a newly created opportunity based on strong and sustained growth with a focus on driving direct sales in Europe.

THE POSITION

The Sales and Applications Specialist will be responsible for instrument support, training/tech support and sales. Working with academics and industry researchers, you’ll be networking within the community to identify sales opportunities of the company portfolio of products. Building strong relationships with customers you’ll take a consultative approach to identify wants/needs and supply solutions. You’ll work closely with customers to install, set-up and optimise the instrument to meet the needs of the customer. This is a highly technical role and in additional to sales, candidates will be comfortable in a hands-on, technical troubleshooting and support functions.

The successful candidate will be attending key conferences and symposiums across the EU to demonstrate products and network with potential customers. In addition you’ll be conducting face-to-face meetings at customer sites and on-line video meetings to identify and develop sales opportunities. Travel is an essential part of this role and the successful candidate can expect to be out at least 50% of your time (with the remainder working from a home office).

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan for the European Union and neighbouring territories
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within academia, pharma research and CRO’s
  • Grow and maintain relationships with existing customers
  • Achieve and exceed annual sales targets and KPI objectives
  • Prepare quotations, proposals, and tenders

Technical & Scientific Support

  • Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to researchers and laboratory teams
  • Provide application-focused sales and technical support (neuroscience, electrophysiology, muscular physiology)
  • Conduct detailed on-site installations and product testing or troubleshooting

Market Development

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging research areas
  • Represent the company at scientific conferences, exhibitions, workshops, and industry meetings throughout Europe
  • Develop relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and leading research groups

THE CANDIDATE

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD in Physiology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering (or Masters/Diploma with a masters project in lab physiology)
  • Excellent hands-on experience in-vivo &/or ex-vivo physiology
  • Hands-on laboratory experience in muscle physiology
  • Confident communicator, able to present technical concepts in a clear and understandable way
  • Located in Germany or able to relocate with full right to work in Germany
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout Europe (driving licence preferred but not essential)

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in life science sales with proven success exceeding targets
  • Well networked within the EU life science research community in academia/pharma and CRO communities
  • Good language skills and able to do business in English and German

Key Competencies

  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently; scientifically literate and technically confident
  • Relationship-focused with excellent interpersonal skills; commercially driven and ambitious
