Research and Development Engineer

Xiros designs and develops innovative textile-based implants used in the repair and restoration of soft tissues in the human body. We are now offering an entry-level opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering or Medical Engineering graduate to join our Research and Development team at our Yeadon, Leeds (West Yorkshire) site. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a leading and highly innovative medical device company.

The role:

Working closely with the Head of R&D and Senior Project Manager, you will contribute to the development of new medical devices from concept through to validation. Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting New Product Development activities across multiple projects.
• Conducting laboratory-based testing of medical devices.
• Preparing technical documentation and test reports to support product development and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborating cross-functionally with colleagues as required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A 2:1 degree, or above, in Mechanical Engineering or Medical Engineering.
• Experience using CAD software, gained through university projects or previous employment.
• A proactive, self-motivated approach with strong planning and organisational skills.
• Good verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different functions.
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate technical reports and documentation.

Hours: Full-time -37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday). Flexi-time scheme in operation.
Location: On site – Yeadon, Leeds, West Yorkshire. Free on-site parking.
Salary: £31,000 per annum
Benefits: 8% employer pension contributions. 34 days holiday per annum including bank holidays, rising to 39 days with length of service. Life assurance worth 4 x salary.
