Process Development Scientist - Business Development

Are you currently working in CMC, Process Development, MSAT, Bioprocess Development or Biomanufacturing and find yourself drawn to the commercial side of the industry?

Or perhaps you are already selling into biopharma and have a strong understanding of process development workflows and manufacturing challenges?

Newton Colmore is partnered with an exciting, venture-backed techbio company that is transforming how biomanufacturing is monitored and optimised. Following significant investment and strong early customer traction, the company is now looking to make a key commercial hire to accelerate growth across Europe and beyond. This is a rare opportunity to join at an early stage and have an impact on both company strategy and market adoption. Based in Europe, the company offers remote working across the region, with hybrid options available for those who would like greater involvement with the team.

This role sits at the intersection of science and business focused on two key responsibilities.

  • You will work directly with pharmaceutical and biotech organisations to understand their process development and manufacturing challenges, helping them evaluate innovative technology designed to improve bioprocess visibility, efficiency and decision-making.
  • The successful candidate will become a trusted advisor to scientific and technical stakeholders, combining technical credibility with commercial curiosity.

This position would suit the following candidate type;

  • A scientist or engineer with 3+ years' experience in CMC, Process Development, MSAT, Upstream Development or related biopharmaceutical functions who is interested in moving into a customer-facing commercial role.
  • A biopharma commercial professional who already sells into process development and manufacturing teams.
  • Someone who enjoys building relationships, solving problems and influencing decisions, rather than remaining exclusively in the laboratory or manufacturing environment.

What you will be doing on a day-to-day basis.

  • Engaging with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies across Europe and North America.
  • Developing a deep understanding of customer workflows, challenges and strategic priorities.
  • Building relationships with scientists, engineers, technical leaders and manufacturing stakeholders.
  • Leading commercial discussions and supporting customers through complex evaluation processes.
  • Working closely with senior leadership and technical experts to develop commercial opportunities.
  • Gathering market feedback and helping shape future product and commercial strategy.
  • Contributing to the growth of a rapidly scaling deep-tech business.

The candidate we are searching for.

Essential

  • 3+ years' experience within biopharmaceutical CMC, Process Development, MSAT, Upstream Development, Drug Substance Development or a related technical function.
  • Strong understanding of biologics development and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Commercial awareness and genuine interest in working with customers.
  • Fluent in English.

Desirable

  • Previous business development, sales, applications, customer-facing or technical consulting experience.
  • Existing network within the biotech or pharmaceutical sector.
  • Experience working with bioprocessing technologies, analytics, PAT, automation, digital bioprocessing or manufacturing technologies.
  • Additional European languages.

What is on offer?

  • Join a highly innovative, investor-backed biotech technology business at a pivotal stage of growth.
  • Opportunity to move from a purely scientific role into a commercial career without losing your technical focus.
  • Work directly with industry-leading pharmaceutical organisations.
  • Significant exposure to company leadership and strategic decision-making.
  • Competitive salary, performance-based incentives and equity potential.
  • Fully remote across Europe, with hybrid options available.

If you are a scientist who enjoys engaging with people, influencing decisions and solving customer problems, this could be an outstanding opportunity to take your career in a new direction whilst staying close to the science.
