Applications are invited for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the Department of Eye and Vision Sciences and Biochemistry, Cell and Systems Biology at the University of Liverpool. The post is funded by Glaucoma UK and is fixed term for 12 months.
The project, ‘Integrated Proteomic and Metabolomic Analysis of Aqueous Humour in Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma’, will examine molecular differences between aqueous humour samples from patients with primary open-angle glaucoma and age-matched cataract controls.
You will work with a multidisciplinary team in ophthalmology, proteomics, metabolomics and computational biology. Responsibilities will include preparation of low-volume biological samples, support for mass-spectrometry-based proteomic and metabolomic workflows, quality control, quantitative data processing, statistical analysis and integration of proteomic and metabolomic datasets. You will also contribute to data interpretation, project reporting, manuscript preparation, conference presentations and communication of findings to patient and public audiences.
Applicants should have, or be close to completing, a PhD in proteomics, metabolomics, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, systems biology, bioinformatics or a related discipline. Relevant experience in mass-spectrometry-based omics, quantitative data analysis and reproducible analytical workflows is required.
If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
