Mechanical Project Engineer - COMAH / Chemical Plant - Manchester - Up to £60,000

About the Company

Our client is a global chemical manufacturer in the Manchester area who is looking to add a Mechanical Project Engineer to their Engineering team. This is a hands-on and varied role that combines engineering design, maintenance, safety management, and project delivery, with opportunities to contribute to plant-wide improvement initiatives.

Mechanical Project Engineer - Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience in engineering/projects within a chemical, pharmaceutical, or petrochemical environment (COMAH experience preferred).
Excellent knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and reliability engineering.
Strong organisational and project management skills.
Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Mechanical Project Engineer - Responsibilities
Managing and delivering mechanical-biased projects from design through to completion.
Providing technical expertise and troubleshooting to support plant operations.
Leading on maintenance strategies to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency.
Supporting process safety initiatives, including active participation in HAZOPs.
Overseeing contractors and vendors to ensure quality, compliance, and performance.
Conduct detailed engineering design of mechanical systems and components.
Manage compliance with PSSR, PUWER, LOLER, and PED inspection/installation programs.
Lead and participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and HAZOP studies.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement solutions to reduce downtime.
Maintain accurate records of equipment performance and maintenance activities
