Role: Mechanical Design Engineer
Duration: 12 months
Location: Stevenage, SG1 2BP (on-site 2-3 days per-week)
Rate: Up to £50/hour (Umbrella)

Inside IR35

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join an innovative R&D team in Stevenage on a 12-month contract. This role will focus on the design and development of advanced hardware solutions for next-generation bioprocessing technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead hardware development projects, including new product features and assembly processes.

Produce design specifications, drawings, prototypes, testing plans, and technical reports.

Collaborate with suppliers on prototypes and pre-production builds, supporting transfer into manufacturing.

Conduct laboratory testing to support design validation, verification, and troubleshooting.

Utilise CAD software and prototyping methods including 3D printing, CNC machining, and injection moulding.

Requirements:

Degree in Mechanical/Design Engineering (2:1 or above) or similar.

3+ years' experience in mechanical engineering within R&D environments.

Strong background in component design for processes such as machining, sheet metalwork, and injection moulding.

Proficiency with 3D CAD packages.

Practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.

Must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
