Your work will change lives. Including your own.

The Impact You’ll Make

As the leader of Recursion’s neuroscience computational biology team, you will be at the forefront of reimagining neuroscience drug discovery using Recursion’s massive data capabilities. As Recursion continues to grow our work in neuroscience, together with our partners at Roche & Genentech, you will have the opportunity to help chart that path. Working alongside world-class biologists, medicinal chemists, engineers, data scientists and ML scientists, you'll guide our computational strategy for target selection and prioritization, patient connectivity, and small molecule program decisions, with the ultimate goal of bringing life-changing therapeutics to patients living with neurological or neurodegenerative disease.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage and mentora team of computational biologists and data scientists dedicated to advancing novel therapeutics in the neuroscience space
  • Identifydatasets and computational strategies to inform novel target prioritization and patient connectivity in neuroscience indications
  • Synthesize diverse datasets (internal and external) to generate and evaluate hypotheses for drug discovery, biomarker development, and mechanism of action
  • Interpretand discuss data and analysis results with external partners and senior leaders in a clear and compelling way
  • Strategize on ways to standardize and scale our approaches and analyses to not only solve for the current project, but also to accelerate future projects and scale the impact that we can have

The Team You’ll Join

You will join a group of data scientists and computational biologists that collaborate with an interdisciplinary collective of biological, computational, drug discovery, and data/machine learning scientists. Our team focus is to leverage our unique combined skillset of scientific and domain expertise together with data analysis and insight generation to drive data-driven decisions in the partnership. To achieve this, we work with many different types of data, understand deeply how they are generated, and design the best analyses to answer key questions in the partnership. These analyses range from data visualizations to ML models to prioritize and advance targets, compounds or programs in our neuroscience partnership with Roche/Genentech.

The Experience You’ll Need

  • PhD in a relevant field (computational biology, bioinformatics, neuroscience, cell biology, etc.) with a very strong computational focus and6+ years of experience in the biotech or pharmaindustry OR MS in a relevant field and 8+ years experience.
  • Adept and experienced at managing a matrixed / cross-functional team, with care for individual’s career development alongside delivery for drug programs.
  • Demonstrated experience applying computational methods to analyze complex and high-dimensional biological data (images, proteomics, transcriptomics, GWAS, etc.).
  • Exceptional data visualization skills through creation of plots, documentation and presentations. Fluency and experience working with Python and following best software development practices.
  • Track record demonstrating successful application of computational biology methods to advance early stage drug discovery (preference for experience in neuroscience)
  • Exceptional data visualization skills, and ability to clearly explain computational analyses and methodologies to cross-functional and non-technical teams.
  • Owners’ mindset, boldness to learn about new data types and to master new skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry and prioritize among multiple projects.
  • Bold, passionate and highly collaborative with experience working in cross-functional teams

Where to Advertise Biotech Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Advertising biotech jobs in the UK requires a different approach to most technical hiring. The candidate pool spans life scientists, computational biologists, regulatory specialists and biomanufacturing engineers — each with distinct professional networks and job search behaviours. General job boards reach a broad audience but lack the specificity that biotech professionals expect. Specialist platforms, academic channels and sector-specific communities each serve a different part of the market. This guide, published by BiotechnologyJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise biotech roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

Biotech Jobs UK 2026: What to Expect Over the Next 3 Years

Biotechnology is creating jobs at a rate that few other sectors can match. New disciplines are emerging from research labs and entering commercial hiring pipelines, existing roles are fragmenting into deeper specialisms, and the technologies driving it all — from AI-assisted drug discovery to next-generation gene editing — are advancing faster than the workforce can keep pace with. For job seekers, this creates an unusual challenge. In most industries, career planning means navigating a relatively familiar landscape and identifying where your skills fit. In biotech, that landscape is being actively redrawn. The roles generating the most hiring activity in 2028 may look quite different from the ones appearing in job adverts today. That's not a reason to feel overwhelmed — it's a reason to get informed. The candidates who thrive in this market aren't always those with the longest CVs or the most letters after their name. They're the ones who understand where the sector is heading: which disciplines are gaining commercial traction, which technologies are driving employer demand, and how the definition of a "biotech job" is expanding well beyond traditional pharmaceuticals and research roles. This article breaks down what the UK biotech jobs market is likely to look like over the next three years — covering emerging job titles, the technologies reshaping hiring, the skills employers are prioritising right now, and how to position your career ahead of the curve rather than behind it.
