Commercial Lead, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

£65,000 - £70,000 plus benefits

Bluetree is delighted to be working with a fast-growing medical technology business that is redefining how cardiac conditions are detected and managed across UK healthcare settings.

Our client is entering an exciting first commercial phase, having developed an innovative wearable ECG monitoring solution with strong clinical validation. They are now looking for a talented Commercial Lead to join the founding team and drive their go-to-market strategy.

This is a rare opportunity to join at the ground floor of a high-growth MedTech business — with genuine influence, a clear path to senior leadership, and the chance to make a real difference in patient outcomes.

The ideal candidate will be a proven, hands-on sales professional who can hit the ground running — someone with direct experience in the field rather than a purely strategic background. They are looking for an individual who has a strong track record of selling into the private healthcare sector and can build relationships with health insurance companies, private clinics, and procurement teams.

Previous experience selling Medtronic devices would be highly advantageous. Candidates must be comfortable with field-based, relationship-driven selling and should expect regular travel to meet clients and close deals. Crucially, they will ideally bring an established network of contacts within the target customer base, enabling them to generate results from day one.

The Role

As Commercial Lead, you will be the driving force behind early sales and business development. Working directly alongside the founders and clinical team, you will open conversations with healthcare providers, secure pilot programmes, convert early customers and shape how the business sells, prices and positions its product.

This role blends business development, go-to-market strategy and customer discovery — it suits someone who thrives on building from scratch.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

* Identify and engage target customers across NHS trusts, private healthcare providers, clinics and insurers

* Build relationships with clinical leads, procurement teams and senior decision-makers

* Lead sales conversations from first contact through to pilot and contract

* Design and run pilot programmes that demonstrate clinical and commercial value

* Convert pilots into paid commercial agreements

Go-to-Market Strategy

* Help define target segments, buyer personas and priority use cases

* Test and refine messaging, value propositions and pricing models

* Feed customer insight back into product development and roadmap decisions

* Develop clear, compelling sales materials including decks, one-pagers and case studies

Partnerships & Market Presence

* Explore and establish partnerships with healthcare organisations, digital health platforms and insurers

* Represent the business at relevant industry events and conferences

Commercial Enablement

* Support the creation of clinical and commercial content (case studies, webinars, thought leadership)

* Help define what future sales and marketing hires will need to succeed

* Provide commercial insight and revenue reporting to the leadership team

What We’re Looking For

Our client is looking for a self-starter who combines commercial instinct with a genuine understanding of the healthcare landscape. The ideal candidate will bring:

* Experience selling into healthcare, MedTech, digital health or regulated environments

* Understanding of NHS and/or private healthcare buying processes (e.g. BUPA or equivalent)

* Confidence engaging clinicians, medical professionals and senior stakeholders

* Proven ability to open doors and progress complex, consultative sales conversations

* A self-starter mindset and comfort operating in an early-stage, fast-moving environment

* Strong track record of building relationships and winning new business

* Experience selling medical devices as opposed to services

* Experience within the cardiology sector, ideally irhythm or Medtronic cardiology

Desirable but not essential:

* Experience with medical devices, diagnostics or remote patient monitoring

* Exposure to pilots, trials or proof-of-concept sales motions

* Knowledge of healthcare procurement frameworks

* Start-up or early-stage company experience

What’s on Offer

Competitive base salary with performance-based incentives

Private medical insurance and company pension

On-site parking

Significant influence over commercial strategy from day one

Clear opportunity to grow into a Head of Commercial or senior leadership role

The chance to make a meaningful impact on cardiac patient care across the UK

Bluetree Recruits Ltd is an Equal Opportunities Employer and acts as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy. We offer equal opportunities to all candidates regardless of race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, age and other protected status as required by applicable law. We can only consider applications from candidates who are eligible to work in the UK.

Bluetree offers a referral fee of £200 for candidates placed with our clients who successfully complete their probation period

Where to Advertise Biotech Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise biotech jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards, academic networks and trade channels that reach biotech R&D and bioprocessing talent. The candidate pool spans life scientists, computational biologists, regulatory specialists and biomanufacturing engineers — each with distinct professional networks and job search behaviours. General job boards reach a broad audience but lack the specificity that biotech professionals expect. Specialist platforms, academic channels and sector-specific communities each serve a different part of the market. This guide, published by BiotechnologyJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise biotech roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

Biotech Jobs UK 2026: What to Expect Over the Next 3 Years

Biotech Jobs UK 2026: roles, salaries and the genomics, cell therapy and AI-driven drug discovery hiring trends shaping UK biotech careers. Biotechnology is creating jobs at a rate that few other sectors can match. New disciplines are emerging from research labs and entering commercial hiring pipelines, existing roles are fragmenting into deeper specialisms, and the technologies driving it all — from AI-assisted drug discovery to next-generation gene editing — are advancing faster than the workforce can keep pace with. For job seekers, this creates an unusual challenge. In most industries, career planning means navigating a relatively familiar landscape and identifying where your skills fit. In biotech, that landscape is being actively redrawn. The roles generating the most hiring activity in 2028 may look quite different from the ones appearing in job adverts today. That's not a reason to feel overwhelmed — it's a reason to get informed. The candidates who thrive in this market aren't always those with the longest CVs or the most letters after their name. They're the ones who understand where the sector is heading: which disciplines are gaining commercial traction, which technologies are driving employer demand, and how the definition of a "biotech job" is expanding well beyond traditional pharmaceuticals and research roles. This article breaks down what the UK biotech jobs market is likely to look like over the next three years — covering emerging job titles, the technologies reshaping hiring, the skills employers are prioritising right now, and how to position your career ahead of the curve rather than behind it.
