ROLE OVERVIEW

An exciting opportunity for an Associate Research Leader, Formulation to join a leading pharmaceutical development organisation based in Essex.

We are currently looking for an Associate Research Leader with strong formulation expertise to support small molecule drug discovery and development programmes. This is a project leadership role, combining client-facing responsibilities with hands-on scientific input, making it an excellent step forward for an experienced formulator seeking career progression.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Associate Research Leader - Formulation will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Design and execute formulation study plans tailored to client needs.

  • Act as scientific lead on formulation projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

  • Serve as the primary scientific contact for clients, from project initiation through to delivery.

  • Provide mentoring and guidance to junior scientists while contributing scientific expertise to integrated project teams.

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Associate Research Leader, Formulation we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

  • A Degree or higher level in a relevant subject (e.g., Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Sciences / Formulation Science).

  • Extensive industrial R&D experience in small molecule formulation development, ideally with exposure to multiple dosage routes.

  • Strong knowledge of preformulation studies, enabling formulation techniques (e.g., spray drying, wet milling, emulsions), and the ability to interpret PK data to influence formulation strategy.
