What you will enjoy doing

  • In this role, you will be planning and carrying out analysis of samples using a variety of analytical chemistry techniques including GC and FTIR, which includes performing all analyses safely and in accordance with procedures, Good Laboratory Practice and the requirements of ISO17025
  • You will be travelling to customer and other BOC sites to undertake on-site testing of gases and assisting customers with problem solving
  • In addition, you will be planning and carrying out validation and re-validation of analytical instruments and methods
  • Interpreting data and producing test and validation reports taking responsibility for your own content
  • Providing analytical and technical advice and support to improve productivity, efficiency and safety of the business
  • Working with other members of the laboratory team to review our processes to identify and implement opportunities for improvement for example continual development and improvement of the laboratory quality management system.
  • Helping maintain laboratory equipment as required (service, calibration, upkeep)

What makes you great

  • You have a degree in Chemistry, with analytical bias if possible, or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of analytical instrumentation and techniques in particular GC and FTIR
  • In addition, you must hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel which may be at short notice when required
  • You have the ability to work in a team environment but also self-motivated to work without close supervision
  • Excellent problem-solving and strong written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Furthermore, you are comfortable using MS office & other applications with a passion to learn new digital tools and skills to help optimise and automate our processes
  • And lastly, you work with integrity aligned to the values of being an inclusive workplace
