About the role

The postholder will undertake a number of activities to support the documentation, digitisation and open access dissemination of archaeological information from across the vast Central Asian region. The project draws together archaeological data from existing archives, country-based monument records, remote-sensing, field surveys, and other research databases, to create a Historic Environment Record for the whole region. The resulting datasets resides in individual country databases, and within an over-arching open access online geospatial inventory.

The Research Assistant will be part of a team of researchers based at the UCL Institute of Archaeology, and many staff locally employed across Central Asia.

The post is full-time ( hours per week) and is available from 1 February until 30 September .

About you

The post holder will have an MA in Archaeology or a related discipline ( geography, anthropology, history) and will have a demonstrated knowledge of and research experience in Central Asian archaeology. They will have experience in computational and/or digital approaches in archaeology and in using and maintaining databases. They will also have experience in remote sensing and GIS.
