Job Summary

A Plant Service Engineer vacancy now exists within the Building/Workshop department based in Tranent, East Lothian. This is a permanent full-time role.

Working as a Plant Service Engineer, you'll join a team who carry out a range of maintenance, fault finding and repair duties in a large campus style estate and associated satellite sites.

Duties and responsibilities include:-

  • Carrying out maintenance and repairs
  • Ensuring the continuation of a fit for purpose working environment in accordance with company procedures

    Applicants should have:-

  • A time-served mechanical engineer qualification
  • Experience of HVAC systems, air compressors and steam condensers
  • Competence in fabrication using a variety of materials
  • Experience in the use of basic machine tools would be an advantage
  • Welding experience and certification would be an advantage
  • A full driving licence

    Working within a small maintenance team on a wide variety of plant there is an expectation that the successful applicant will be multi skilled and flexible. The post requires the ability to work at height as well as in enclosed spaces, and the post holder must also be able to negotiate crawl spaces. Practical experience of fault finding on a range of plant and equipment systems is desirable.

    Due to the nature of this role, you must also be able to work outwith normal office hours, as required and as a member of a rotational on-call response team, for which an on-call allowance will be payable.

    The salary on offer for this role is up to £40,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
