At Basecamp Research, we're seeking a Head of AI to lead our team. We believe the future of biotech will be driven by combining diverse natural data sets with cutting-edge AI algorithms. We've built the largest ethically sampled biodiversity database and demonstrated state-of-the-art models in biology. After raising $60 million in Series B funding, we're expanding our team to develop next-generation biological foundation models. This role involves developing AI strategy, leading the AI team, and managing academic and industry partnerships, working in a highly collaborative environment of scientists and engineers. Lead and manage a team of AI/ML researchers and engineers, fostering innovation Oversee development of novel AI/ML models and algorithms Manage multiple research projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives Design AI system architecture, balancing research and production needs Represent Basecamp Research’s AI capabilities at conferences, publications, and collaborations A graduate degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computational Biology, or related field 5+ years in AI/ML research or engineering, with at least 4 years in a technical leadership role or 3 years in management ~ Strong publication record or expertise in generative AI, deep learning, or computational biology ~ Experience applying AI to biological problems, especially protein design or genomics ~ Proven success in leading AI research projects and translating research into applications ~ Experience training large generative models on HPC GPUs or cloud platforms (AWS, Lambda, Azure) Strategic planning abilities Software engineering skills, data pipelining (e.G., Airflow), and cloud deployment experience Familiarity with Agile methodologies If you're interested in joining as our new Head of AI, we'd love to hear from you!#
